The G35 was Infiniti’s successor for three models – The I35, J30, and G20. The new G had all of the bases covered. It was available in coupe and sedan body styles, and could also be equipped with all wheel drive and the first application of Nissan’s ATTESA all wheel drive system. ATTESA allows the G to be rear wheel drive while cruising at a steady speed and all wheel drive while beginning to accelerate and when traction wasn’t available to the rear wheels, torque would automatically be sent to the front wheels.
The nearly 50-50 weight distribution, available six speed transmission, Brembo brakes, limited slip differential, and mid mounted 260 horsepower engine made for a chassis that handled well and had the power to back it up.
The G35 was revised several times and was succeeded by the G37. Many of the components were shared, but the driving dynamics were improved. The engine would now make 328 horsepower, an available seven speed automatic transmission, 4 piston front brakes & 2 piston rear brakes (sport models), paddle shifters (G37S model), and a viscous limited slip differential. The G37 is available as a coupe, sedan, and convertible.
Additionally, there is a sportier option for the G series named the G37 IPL. IPL stands for Infiniti Performance Line. The engine received a bump in horsepower, suspension revisions, and sportier body styling.
In 2010, one other option also became available in the G model line. The introduction of the G25 uses a smaller displacement V6, an automatic transmission, is available with rear wheel or all wheel drive and is otherwise identical to the G37.
The Q40 debuted in 2015. While it was originally supposed to be replaced by the Q50, Infiniti kept the [formerly G37] around as the renamed Q40 because of continued demand. One of Infiniti’s top seller, the Q40 got a big price cut and represents Infiniti’s entry-level offering.

NOTE: For model year 2014, Infiniti adopted an entirely new naming structure. The G37 was replaced in 2014 by the Q50 (sedan) and Q50 (coupe) – with the exception of the Q40 sedan, which is a carryover model for 2015. Factory service manuals for those models can be found here: Infiniti Q50 / Q60 Factory Service Manuals
